Ciao Raf,

it's certainly a Macaroeris.

This one looks a bit unusual; wondering if this is how flavicomis should look like (supposedly covered in pale hairs) or it is just a nidicolens variation.

Also, the prey is a female Bibio reticulatus, Bibionidae.

Thank you guys for your contributions.
Let's wait for Micha for this spider too, then.

I only point out that, as far as we know, Macaroeris flavicomis is not present in mainland Italy. But that means nothing, as the case of Xysticus grallator taught me.

Well, in the meantime, I'm off to the post office to post a parcel; we'll have a new species of Gnaphosidae before long (I hope), moreover one that has already appeared on this forum.  :P

More than Macaroeris sp. I also do not dare to say here.

Looking around, it seems that my French 'cousins' don't have as much trouble with specimens coloured as my spider

https://www.galerie-insecte.org/galerie/ref-280361.htm

Without wishing to contradict Micha and Simeon in any way, I too think the spider is a common nidicolens (the only species from continental Italy), simply lighter in colour than usual. After all, the species presents a very variable pattern (Wiki).
But here on the forum I will change the thread title to Macaroeris sp.

I can only speak for myself. Others certainly have more experience regarding this genus. I also only answered because you explicitly asked for my opinion ;)

Your determination is fine with me, Michael.  ;)

Mine is just a personal impression, dictated by the fact that by now I have seen quite a few nidicolens, some even without X, testifying to the variability of the pattern.

Greetings from southern Italy.
