27-04-2012 Bosa (The Islet Pagliosa / Cape Marrargiu)

Hi all,
this excursion (Lars Friman, Arnold Sciberras and Salvatore Canu), was used to explore the area in anticipation of the hike later (which was attended by all the members of the expedition except me), to make sure that the main excursion, had any places and the very points to explore.
The place visited is located in the territory of Bosa (OR), the destination of the area is between the islet Pagliosa and the Cape Marrargiu.

The Cape Marrargiu is a promontory on the north-western coast of Sardinia located in the town of Bosa south of Alghero.
Cape Marrargiu is at the center of a regional nature reserve for the protection of wildlife, about 160 acres, and is particularly important for the quality and quantity of which is home to rare and protected species.

The griffon vulture nests in these rugged coasts that represent its most important colonies in the country. Amongst other birds is remarkable the presence of species have become rare as the golden eagle and the Bonelli's eagle, as well as the peregrine falcon, the gull, the kingfisher and the red kite.

The area is geologically characterized by a strong presence of volcanic rock and a constellation of erosive caves, many of which opening onto the sea. In some of these have been reported sightings of specimens of the monk seal, but currently there are no reliable data on the presence of this animal.

The reserve includes a bio marine park, which stretches from the small island of La Pagliosa, north, up to the Temo River (which runs through the town of Bosa), to the south.

Hello to all,
This is the determination made by Alessandro Kulczycki, an expert of the Forum Natura Mediterraneo  :
The genus is certainly Spermophorides (characterized by six eyes as Spermophora). The only species reported for Sardinia is S. baunei, but I would not trust too much.

hi all,

"Lars schrieb: natürlich gehören die Weberknechte nicht zur Gattung Homalenotus, sondern zu einer Art
der - für mich - Kuddelmuddel-Gattung Metasclerosoma (vgl. u. a. Marcellino 1970:290 - 294, Fig. 3c - 3d;

muss ich (mit Salvatore) noch anhand meiner 7 Exemplaren  bestimmen."
